Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs)

A Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) can assess geometry, dimensions and points in a certain volume. The measurement can be done by physical contact (with a probe), or contactless (with sensors sucha as CCD camera, laser, white light chromatic sensor, ...).

Depending on the machine, the head is a fixed-head type with deflection plates or rotating-head allowing several positions of the probe to be adapted to the physical shape of the part to be measured.

The Metrology service is equipped with the following types of CMMs:

  • Conventional (historical) CMM
  • Optical CMM
  • High accuracy CMMs
  • Ultra-high accuracy CMM
